We are approaching 4 years since the closure of Wolgan Road and there is still no solution. State authorities are stumbling along without clout and leave the problem with Council which is overburdened with the complexities of the project. They have left it to a consultant whose business plan prioritises compiling investigations and finding ever more options – but not finding solutions which would end his job. $14mio of taxpayer’s money has been spent with no solution in sight.

However, while there are considerable hardships for residents, the valley is now a quiet and peaceful haven and Newnes has become an even more special place. Locked away in all its isolated splendor it is an oasis in our troubled world. You are welcome to share it
