Walks at Newnes
There are spectacular walks you can do from the Newnes Hotel. You are at a very special place here surrounded by unspoilt nature and spectacular landscapes. Enjoy the many different environments from river to mountain tops, from rainforest gullies to bare rock.
A more detailed brochure on the Glow-worm Tunnel Walk is on sale ($1.00) at the Newnes Kiosk.
There are lots more, undeveloped walks in the area (Starlight Canyon, Constance Gorge – Rocky Creek, Old Baldy & Donkey Mountain traverse etc.) Please ask Thomas for more details.
There are fantastic opportunities to hop on a bicycle at Newnes, the ‘Wolgan Valley Railtrail’ being the ‘jewel in the crown’. However, cycling has become a ‘political hot potato’ as National Parks tries to establish it’s priorities between conservation and recreation.

The Glow Worm Tunnel is one of two railway tunnels of the now disused railway line which serviced Newnes 100 years ago. The Glow Worm Tunnel is the most popular walk from Newnes. It leads through a great variety of landscapes and offers excellent views. The walk through the tunnel and the rainforest gorge leading to it are an unforgettable experience.
